MercyOne Medical Group – Northeast Iowa in Waterloo is seeking a part-time Medical Secretary/Registration professional for the evening shift. You will gather patient demographics and financial information, input data into the computer system, assign rooms, and prepare documentation while assisting with registration and patient flow.

Responsibilities include taking signatures, handling ABN waivers, pre-registering tests, answering phones, and coordinating transport with house staff.

Formación

• Reads, writes and understands English; communicates effectively with patients, staff and physicians.
• Completion of Medical Secretary program or general office training preferred.
• 1 year medical office experience (scheduling, insurance, or registration) preferred.
• Strong computer skills; Windows experience; database/mainframe familiarity.
• Ability to convey a positive image and communicate tactfully in a healthcare setting.

Responsabilidades

• Gathers patient demographic and financial information; obtains signatures.
• Answers telephone; assigns beds; orders and communicates stat cleans to supervisor.
• Informs patients of hospital rules; secures armbands and signatures on documents.
• Assesses need for ABN waiver; escorts patients to assigned area.
• Pre-registers scheduled tests; meet and greet patients as registration begins.
• Scans physician orders, licenses, insurance cards, consents, etc.; adheres to HIPAA/EMTALA.
