Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Representative to manage patient registration, verify demographics, and ensure accurate insurance information entry in the electronic health record. You will explain required regulatory documents, collect payments, and coordinate scheduling and discharge duties where needed.

The role is based in Norfolk, VA, with a focus on first impressions and efficient service delivery in a fast-paced emergency department environment.

Qualifications

• 2 years of Customer Service and/or Data Entry experience or a bachelor’s degree in lieu of two years of experience.
• Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Register patients by verifying identity and selecting the correct record.
• Review schedules and orders to register patients for the appropriate service.
• Explain and complete complex regulatory and privacy documents.
• Collect co-payments and balances; perform transactions securely.
• Assist with scheduling, pre-admission, and discharge duties as needed.
