Job summary

Pillars is hiring a Crisis Housing Advocate to support clients at the Adult & Family Shelter and other sites in Appleton, WI. The role focuses on intake, safety, and facilitating access to services while collaborating with staff and volunteers.

The position supports daily operations, including maintaining records, distributing medications, coordinating with partners, and ensuring a respectful, inclusive environment for clients and visitors. Evening shifts are required.

Qualifications

• Experience with homelessness or housing programs preferred.
• Experience with domestic violence survivors preferred.
• Experience with mental health or addictions challenges preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as point of contact for clients and visitors.
• Complete client intake, assess eligibility, and educate on Pillars programs.
• Enter client data into HMIS and maintain logs.
• Assist clients with daily activities and resources for independence.
• Support onboarding and training of new staff and volunteers.
• Maintain building security and safety policies.
• Receive, organize, and store donations; assist with meals.
• Handle office tasks including warrants checks and sign-in books.
• Follow compliance procedures and attend meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
