Job summary

Rappahannock Area Community Services Board is seeking a dedicated residential support staff member in the Fredericksburg, VA area. The role involves assisting adults with developmental disabilities in home and community settings, following individualized plans of care.

The position requires providing evening, overnight, holiday, and weekend supervision, coordinating with families and healthcare providers, and maintaining accurate progress notes and documentation.

Qualifications

• Some experience working with adults with developmental disabilities and/or mental illness preferred.
• Knowledge of housekeeping practices (cleaning, cooking, laundry).
• Ability to support individuals with hygiene related tasks such as bathing and toileting.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Ability to document accurate participant records and follow care plans.

Responsibilities

• Provide support with basic needs including self-care, bathing, toileting, housekeeping, meal planning/preparation, and social interaction.
• Support residents in social and leisure activities inside and outside the home.
• Assist residents with physician appointments and transportation.
• Administer and document medications.
• Provide awake overnight supervision and respond to resident needs during shift.
• Greet visitors and supervise visitation in the home; communicate needs to management and team.
• Follow each resident's plan of care in collaboration with family and other providers.
