Job summary

Rappahannock Area Community Services Board seeks a dedicated caregiver to support adults with developmental disabilities in their homes and community activities. You will assist with personal care, housing chores, meal planning, and help residents follow their plan of care.

The role includes evening, overnight, holiday, and weekend shifts on a rotating basis, requires compassionate communication, documentation, and the ability to coordinate with families and the care team.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Preference for some experience with adults with developmental disabilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Good physical condition and ability to assist participants with limited mobility.
• Ability to follow directions and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Provide support with personal care, household duties, skill building and developing relationships according to each plan of care.
• Assist residents with medication administration and documentation.
• Assist residents with physician appointments and transportation as needed.
• Provide awake overnight supervision and respond to resident needs during shift.
• Document daily progress notes and communicate needs to management and team.
• Greet visitors, supervise visitation, and liaise with families and other service providers.
• Secure the home and report maintenance issues.
