Job summary

Penn Medicine in Plainsboro Township, NJ is seeking a Scheduling Coordinator in the Operating Room to manage surgical case scheduling, staff coordination, and resource planning. The role serves as contact for patients, surgeons, and staff during and after procedures, and supports efficient workflows in the OR.

Schedule: Full Time, 2pm - 10:30pm. Requires a high school diploma or GED and 1–2 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma/GED (Required).
• Associate of Arts or Science preferred.
• 1+ years of relevant scheduling/healthcare administrative experience.
• 2+ years of operating room scheduling or hospital admin experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates the surgical schedule, including arrangements for patient transport and resource scheduling.
• Works with the Charge Nurse to coordinate nursing, anesthesia, residents, and RN First Assist assignments.
• Facilitates surgical case moves/updates including patient locations and physician communication.
• Reviews patient charts for completeness (H&Ps, medical clearances) and follows up with medical staff as needed.
• Answers and triages phone calls for the operating rooms; makes calls to facilitate cases.
• Orders and maintains inventory of related perioperative supplies.
• Manages documentation via fax and EMR for access by the care team.
