Job summary

DMC University Laboratories, Inc. in Detroit, Michigan is seeking a dedicated Lab Services professional to perform pre-analytical and post-analytical testing tasks under supervision. You will interact with patients and health care teams while maintaining equipment, safety, and quality standards.

The role emphasizes phlebotomy, specimen processing, and adherence to laboratory policies, with opportunities for training and leadership support in a dynamic hospital-based lab setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent education required. Associates Degree preferred.
• Three (3) years experience in a specimen processing and/or phlebotomy role in a health environment. (3 years of phlebotomy required for Outreach department).
• Three years of progressively more responsible experience preferred.
• Customer service experience in a service environment preferred. Phlebotomy certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in training in the appropriate phlebotomy and specimen processing policies and procedures to improve the knowledge, skills and abilities of staff to meet department competency standards.
• Acts as the team leader daily in making sure work flow is continuous.
• Assists with problem solving and troubleshooting of routine or moderately complex processing and/or phlebotomy issues.
• Acts as a resource to Laboratory Assistants. Assists with processing specimens and answers questions regarding laboratory policies and procedures.
• Complies with departmental safety polices and procedures and OSHA guidelines, including the use of applicable personal protective equipment.
