Job summary

Tenet Healthcare's DMC University Laboratories in Detroit is seeking a Senior Lab Assistant - Microbiology to support pre-analytical and analytic testing activities under supervision. You will assist in training staff, lead daily workflow, handle specimen processing, phlebotomy tasks, data entry, and ensure safety and quality compliance.

Qualifications include high school diploma or equivalent, 3 years in specimen processing or phlebotomy, and willingness to perform a range of lab support

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• Three years experience in specimen processing and/or phlebotomy in a health environment.
• Three years progressively more responsible experience preferred.
• Customer service experience in a service environment preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred for Phlebotomists.

Responsibilities

• Assist in training in phlebotomy and specimen processing to meet competency standards.
• Act as team leader daily to ensure workflow continuity.
• Troubleshoot routine or moderately complex processing and phlebotomy issues.
• Serve as a resource to Laboratory Assistants and assist with specimen processing.
• Comply with safety polices and OSHA guidelines; use PPE.
• Prioritize incoming specimens and ensure critical tests are processed accurately.
