Job summary

DMC University Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a dedicated phlebotomist to join our evening team in Detroit. You will perform pre-analytical and specimen processing tasks, draw blood when ordered, and ensure specimen integrity under established procedures.

As a trainer and team lead at times, you will support staff training, troubleshoot routine issues, and maintain a safe, efficient laboratory environment while delivering compassionate patient care and accurate test results.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.
• Three years experience in specimen processing and/or phlebotomy in healthcare.
• Three years of progressively more responsible experience preferred.
• Customer service experience in a service environment preferred; Phlebotomy certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in training in phlebotomy and specimen processing policies and procedures to improve staff skills.
• Acts as the team leader daily to ensure workflow continuity.
• Assists with problem solving and troubleshooting routine processing and/or phlebotomy issues.
• Acts as a resource to Laboratory Assistants and maintains specimen integrity.
• Maintains safety policies and equipment; communicates with patients and healthcare professionals.
