Job summary

SUN Behavioral Columbus LLC is seeking a part-time Mental Health Technician for evening shifts in Columbus, OH. The MHT provides direct patient care under RN/LPN supervision, ensures safety, and supports therapeutic activities.

You will document patient status in the EHR, perform vital signs, and assist with restraints under proper protocols. The role emphasizes observation, de-escalation, and collaboration with the treatment team to maintain a safe, healing environment for psychiatric patients.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• CPR and hospital-selected de-escalation technique certification are required.
• Preferred: Some college; Certified Nursing Assistant certification.

Responsibilities

• Record vital signs and intake/output; notify RN of changes.
• Observe patients' behavior and mental status; notify RN of changes or unusual occurrences.
• Assist with restraint or seclusion under RN direction and CPI techniques.
• Conduct 15-minute observation rounds and document appropriately.
• Assist with ADLs, patient transfers, and daily activities.
• Participate in treatment team meetings and communicate with staff.
• Orient patients to the unit and support therapeutic groups under supervision.
