Job summary

SUN Behavioral Columbus LLC is seeking a Mental Health Technician (MHT) for full-time day shifts in Columbus, OH. This role provides direct and indirect patient care under RNs or LPNs, maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment for psychiatric patients.

Responsibilities include vital signs, behavioral observation, de-escalation techniques, documentation, and active participation in CQI projects. Requires HS diploma or GED, CPR, and prior healthcare experience, with CNA preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CPR and hospital-selected de-escalation technique certification required.
• Some college coursework preferred.
• CNA certification preferred.
• One year of healthcare experience required; behavioral health technician experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of an RN or LPN/LVN.
• Monitor and record vital signs, intake/output, and patient condition; notify RN of changes.
• Observe patients’ behavior and mental status; intervene as needed.
• Assist with ADLs and transport; ensure safety and seclusion/restraint per policy.
• Document accurately in EHR and participate in treatment team meetings.
