Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a part-time Medical Laboratory Technician for the 2nd shift (2:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.) with rotating weekends and holidays.

The role involves performing and monitoring tests, evaluating results, maintaining instruments, and ensuring quality control. Applicants should hold a Bachelor's in Clinical Laboratory Sciences or Medical Technology, MT/MLS certifications (ASCP) within 1 year, and demonstrate excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences or Medical Technology.
• MT/MLS certification by ASCP BOC or equivalent within 1 year.
• AMT MT certification within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests per protocols.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance and reports findings.
• Calibrates, maintains, and troubleshoots instruments and equipment.
• Reviews quality control and quality assurance per protocol.
• Ensures specimens are properly labeled and collected.
• Provides training and guidance to staff and students.
• Improves lab procedures to meet accrediting standards.
• Performs proficiency testing and supports specialty testing areas.
• Supports critical care departments with timely results during high acuity events.
