Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform a range of chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests to aid in diagnosis and treatment. You will follow established protocols in a 40-hour, evening-shift schedule and contribute to patient care within our Core Chemistry division.

The ideal candidate holds an MLT associates or a Bachelor's in sciences with CLIA high-complexity qualification criteria or related experience; ASCP certification as MLT/MT is

Qualifications

• Associates degree from a clinical lab science program (MLT) or Bachelor's Degree in sciences with high complexity testing qualifications per CLIA 493.1487.
• ASCP certification as an MLT/MT is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follows established protocols to perform a wide range of tests in an assigned area; consults supervisors for complex results.
• Ensures test results meet the requirements of the laboratory quality control program.
• Interprets and correlates clinical test results with patient history, diagnosis, and condition to explain results and guide actions.
• Performs routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment; ensures preventative maintenance for equipment in assigned area.
• Maintains accurate records of tests performed using computer-based systems.
