Job summary

Stormont Vail Health in Topeka, KS is seeking a non-exempt, full-time Lab Support/Phlebotomy role for second shift (evenings). You will assist clinical and anatomic pathology testing by supporting technologists and technicians, handling specimen processing, and ensuring accurate orders and specimen labeling.

Responsibilities include verifying orders, receiving specimens in the EHR, preparing reagents, and assisting with slide preparation and microbiology setup as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year phlebotomy or laboratory experience.
• Ability to follow OSHA guidelines and hospital safety procedures.
• Knowledge of laboratory operations and policies.

Responsibilities

• Reviews, clarifies and verifies healthcare provider orders for laboratory tests.
• Orders tests and receives specimens in the electronic health record.
• Follows protocols for patient and specimen identification.
• Processes specimens according to correct protocol and storage requirements.
• Distributes specimens to testing personnel and supports internal/external customers.
