Stormont Vail Health is seeking a Laboratory Phlebotomy Technician to support clinical and anatomic pathology testing. You will review orders, receive specimens, ensure specimen identification, and prepare samples for analysis.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and at least 1 year of phlebotomy or laboratory experience. This non-exempt, full-time position provides day shift hours and 40 hours per week.

Aufgaben

• Reviews, clarifies and verifies healthcare provider orders for laboratory tests.
• Orders tests and receives specimens in the electronic health record.
• Follows protocols for patient and specimen identification.
• Understands the basics of specimen collection and potential impact on results.
• Communicates specimen collection information to providers and patients as needed.
• Understands specimen integrity and acceptability for testing.
• Processes specimens per protocol (centrifugation, aliquoting, storage, transport, handling).
• Evaluates for proper type and adequate volume of specimen.
• Distributes specimens/slides to testing personnel.
• Supports internal and external customers with problem solving.
• Answers questions regarding test orders and specimen requirements.
• Performs and reports results on waived test systems.
• Monitors supplies and inventory in the area.
