Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Reviews, clarifies and verifies healthcare provider orders for laboratory tests.
• Orders tests and receives specimen in the electronic health record; identifies patient/specimen.
• Processes specimens per protocol (centrifugation, aliquoting, storage, transport); checks volume.
• Distributes specimens/slides to testing personnel as needed.
• Answers questions regarding test orders and specimen requirements for internal/external customers.
• Monitors supplies/inventory; cleans and maintains benches and equipment.
• Supports testing in assigned departments; may prepare reagents or operate instruments.
