Stormont Vail Health is seeking a part-time laboratorian to assist clinical and anatomic pathology testing. The role involves reviewing orders, receiving specimens in the EHR, and ensuring proper patient and specimen identification, with attention to safety and accuracy.

Responsibilities include processing specimens, preparing slides, performing waived tests, and supporting testing across departments. Training new staff and maintaining equipment are also part of the job.

Qualificações

• High School Diploma / GED required.
• 1 year Phlebotomy or laboratory experience required.
• Follows OSHA guidelines and hospital and laboratory safety procedures.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work, particularly during busy times.
• Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions.
• Strong attention to detail.

Responsabilidades

• Reviews, clarifies and verifies healthcare provider orders for laboratory tests.
• Orders tests and receives specimens in the electronic health record.
• Follows protocols for patient and specimen identification.
• Understands specimen collection basics and potential issues affecting results.
• Communicates specimen collection information to providers and patients as needed.
• Processes specimens according to correct protocol (centrifugation, aliquoting, storage, transport, special handling).
• Distributes specimens/slides to testing personnel; supports internal/external customers.
• Performs waived tests and reports results.
• Monitors supplies and inventory; maintains benches and equipment.
• Supports testing in assigned departments; may include slide preparation, microbiology setup, reagent prep, running instrumentation, quality control, maintenance.
• Alerts to sources of error and duplicates; follows confirmation procedures for misordered tests.
• Packages specimens per IATA regulations and facilitates transfer to labs.
• Intake, documentation, and discharge of deceased patients from morgue.
• Supports and trains new team members as directed.
