Job summary

Oakland Schools is seeking a Working Leader at Milford High School to oversee custodial staff and ensure the building remains clean, safe, and functional for the education program. The role requires leadership, routine maintenance, grounds work, and building security responsibilities.

You will follow directions from the principal and foreman, coordinate with facilities, and maintain equipment and supplies while staying accessible for emergencies and events.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow written directions and instructions from Principal/Foreman/Supervisor of Maintenance or Operations.
• Ability to organize work and time and work independently.
• Identify maintenance and safety needs of a building and grounds; basic plumbing/heating repairs.
• Knowledge and use of tools; experience in commercial custodial cleaning.
• Good written/verbal communication, organization, and record keeping; leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform assigned custodial duties and routine maintenance per approved procedures.
• Assist in building grounds care including mowing, snow/ice removal, and plant care.
• Maintain neat uniforms and storage areas; ensure building security during and after hours.
• Supervise or assist other staff; coordinate facility use requests and event setups.
• Be familiar with mechanical/electrical/heating systems and custodial equipment; perform on-call duties as needed.
