Job summary

Oakland Schools is seeking a Custodian to maintain clean, safe, and secure facilities at Oxbow Elementary. Responsibilities include grounds care, snow removal, and operating custodial equipment to standards that support the education program. The role requires following approved procedures and reporting issues to supervisors.

Shifts run 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. with a contract salary range and a small shift premium, and the position is tied to the 2026–2027 school year. Start date is ASAP.

Qualifications

• Must understand operation of mechanical, electrical and heating units.
• Familiar with custodial mechanical equipment.
• Knowledge of cleaning procedures and sanitation standards.
• Willingness to work on call for emergencies or after-hours needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial duties following approved procedures.
• Care for grounds including mowing, snow removal, and plant maintenance.
• Open/close building daily and for events as directed.
• Maintain neat storage areas for custodial supplies and equipment.
• Report problems to foreman, working leader or principal.
• Assist principal/foreman with custodial tasks as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions in facilities.
