Job summary

capecodhc is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor for the second shift to organize, direct and supervise Specimen Processing, Clinical Lab and Phlebotomy activities. The role develops schedules, oversees performance, trains staff, and ensures compliance with CAP/NCCLS standards.

Ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's MT (ASCP) or AS with 5+ years of hospital lab experience, with prior supervisory experience preferred and strong communication and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's MT (ASCP) or AS degree with a minimum of 5 years hospital laboratory experience.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.
• Outstanding communication skills, excellent leadership ability, solid understanding of laboratory compliance issues and ability to use standard word processing and spreadsheet software.

Responsibilities

• Organizes, directs and supervises second shift laboratory functions (Specimen Processing, Clinical Lab, Phlebotomy).
• Creates and maintains employee work schedules.
• Evaluates work performance and conducts annual evaluations.
• Trains staff in pre/post-analytical processes and related computer functions.
• Maintains technical competencies as a Laboratory generalist and assists staff as needed.
• Participates in budget preparation and aims to keep within budget.
