Job summary

Avera Orthopedic Hospital-Sioux Falls is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance of facilities and equipment. The role supports heating, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building systems with duties that include carpentry, painting, and safety compliance.

Hours are Monday–Friday 3:30pm–12:00am, with an 80-hour biweekly schedule and on-call rotation every 7th week. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate effectively with others.
• Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties.

Responsibilities

• Performs building inspections, replacing parts, and oversees heating and plumbing, grounds, snow/ice removal.
• Performs basic carpentry and maintenance work including painting, remodeling, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
• Performs routine repair and maintenance on machines and equipment (beds, wheelchairs, kitchen equipment, etc.).
• Monitors, operates, inspects, repairs, tests, and cleans equipment that supports steam or chilled water systems and air handling.
• Keeps work areas neat, documents PM schedules, and maintains servicing records.
• Collaborates with contractors and vendors to ensure timely completion of contracted work.
