Job summary

Avera Orthopedic Hospital-Sioux Falls is seeking a Regular, Afternoon Shift Maintenance Technician to inspect, repair, and maintain facilities and assets. The role includes building inspections, basic carpentry, and preventive maintenance to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.

Eligible candidates should have a High School or GED, 3–6 months related experience, and a valid driver’s license. A boiler operator credential is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School or GED Equivalent required.
• Three to six months related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Drivers License - Licensing Board; Boiler Operator preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs building inspections, replaces parts, cleans, and oversees heating and plumbing, outdoor grounds & landscaping, and snow & ice removal for a safe facility environment.
• Performs basic carpentry and maintenance work including painting, remodeling projects, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
• Performs routine repair and maintenance on beds, wheelchairs, kitchen equipment, furniture, and other mechanical devices on a scheduled or as-needed basis.
• Monitors, operates, inspects, repairs, tests, and cleans equipment for steam or chilled water to air handling systems and sterilizers.
• Manages preventative maintenance program for facility building, grounds, equipment, and vehicles; creates PM schedule and maintains logs.
• Responds to facility emergencies, conducts drills, and enforces safety policies; uses PPE correctly.
• Removes equipment, trash, and hazardous waste; maintains regulatory records.
• Collaborates with contractors to ensure timely completion of contracted work.
• May perform additional tasks such as off-site errands, patient transports, deliveries, or inventory.
