Job summary

Miami Children's Hospital is seeking a Cook II to join the Food & Nutrition Services team. You will prepare, season, and cook meals for patients and retail services, following recipes and safety guidelines under the guidance of the Executive Chef and Sous Chef.

The role requires performing short-order cooking, operating kitchen equipment, maintaining sanitation, handling patient trays, and delivering warm, appealing meals in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Active SafeStaff Certification required within 30 days of hire.
• 1-3 years of volume cooking experience in hospital, hotel, institutional, or catering setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, seasons, and cooks foods according to recipe standards under chef guidance.
• Performs short-order cook functions at retail cafeteria or patient tray line.
• Operates kitchen equipment to measure, mix, wash, peel, and cut ingredients.
• Maintains production sheets and follows FIFO for patient meals and retail items.
• Ensure sanitation, cleanliness, and safe handling of food throughout shifts.
• Greet customers and provide service with a customer-first attitude.
• Follow safety policies and infection control standards.
• Work flexible hours including mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays.
• Float to other Food & Nutrition areas as needed.
• Report complaints or hazards to the supervisor on duty.
