Job summary

Nicklaus Children's Health System is seeking a Cook II to join the Food & Nutrition Services team. The role supports patient and retail food production, performing short-order cooking and assembling meals per standardized recipes with strict food safety and sanitation guidelines.

Under the supervision of Executive and Sous Chefs, you will prepare, season, and cook foods for patients and retail services, maintaining clean workstations and collaborating with a team to ensure timely service.

Qualifications

• Active SafeStaff Certification required within 30 days of hire.
• 1–3 years of volume cooking experience in hospital, hotel, institutional, or catering setting.
• Proficiency in food safety and proper techniques and methods.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written).

Responsibilities

• Under guidance of executive chefs prepares, seasons, and cooks foods according to recipe standards.
• Performs short-order cook functions at the retail cafeteria or patient tray line.
• Prepares food using kitchen equipment to measure, mix, wash, peel, cut, and trim ingredients.
• Maintains food production sheets for patients and retail, weighing and documenting production.
