Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock/warehouse worker to transport freight across the dock area to and from trailers for loading. The role involves operating forklifts and hand trucks, verifying documentation, securing cargo, and assisting customers with freight paperwork.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and prior warehousing or forklift experience. Ability to lift heavy items and work in a fast-paced dock environment is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift experience preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, and to lift heavy dock plates.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform freight handling using equipment such as forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Verify documentation matches freight description (type, weight, hazmat) in the system.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and related documentation.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
