Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a dock worker to transport freight across dock areas and load shipments to trailers. The role involves operating forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma (preferred), be at least 18, and possess warehousing or forklift experience. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are required for day-to-day duties across various shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, and to lift dock plates weighing ~100 lb.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Perform freight handling using forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Verify documentation matches freight description (type, weight, hazardous materials).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
