Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock worker to transport freight between trailers and the dock area. The role uses forklift/pallet jack, verifies freight documents, and secures cargo for loading. You will assist customers and may perform hostling duties as needed.

Ideal candidates have warehousing experience, basic math and strong communication. Minimum age 18 with a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling or forklift experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Operate motorized and manual equipment such as forklift and pallet jack.
• Verify documentation matches freight description and weight.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, or ropes.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
