Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. in Manassas, VA is seeking a dock/warehouse worker to transport freight across the dock area to and from trailers. The role involves operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move loads, verifying freight descriptions, and securing cargo for loading.

You’ll lift up to 100 pounds, work in a fast-paced dock environment, and collaborate with service center staff. Starting pay is $23.46 per hour with a range to $27.44; shift time is 5:30 PM–9:00 PM, with hours varying

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling and/or fork lift operations preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck to move freight.
• Verify that freight details match documentation.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
