Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock worker to transport freight across the dock area to and from trailers. You will operate forklifts, pallet jacks and hand trucks, verify freight documentation, secure cargo, and assist customers with freight needs in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent (preferred), ability to lift heavy freight, and the willingness to work a varied shift. Training is provided, and punctuality is essential in this NJ location.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Experience in warehousing, freight handling or forklift operations preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred if required.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight up to ~100 lbs and open trailer doors with ~75 lbs lift force.
• Able to bend, twist, squat and push/pull freight.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers.
• Operate forklift, pallet jack and hand truck as needed.
• Verify documentation matches freight description and weight.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
