Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock worker to transport freight across the dock area to and from trailers, using forklifts, pallet jacks and hand trucks. Starting rate of pay is $21.78 per hour. Shift time is 1700-2130, with dock duties including verifying freight docs and securing loads for trailer movement.

Responsibilities include assisting customers, performing hostling if required, and ensuring compliance with safety rules and policies. Prior warehousing or forklift experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling or forklift experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift, pallet jack and hand truck to move freight.
• Verify documentation matches freight description (type, weight, hazardous materials).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
