Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock worker to transport freight across the dock area, loading to and from trailers. The starting hourly rate is $21.16 with an 03:00–09:00 shift.

Duties include operating equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks, verifying freight documents, securing loads, and assisting customers with freight documentation. Qualifications include a high school diploma (or equivalent), 18+ years old, and preferred warehousing experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Prior warehousing/freight handling experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties: experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight and operate dock doors safely.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Perform freight handling using motorized and manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Verify documentation matches freight description (type, weight, hazardous materials).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
