Job summary

Forward Air Corp. is seeking a Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, and move freight within a multimodal terminal or warehouse. You will operate sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE, with attention to accuracy and documentation.

The role requires 3+ years of dock/warehouse experience, forklift certification, and strong English communication. You will work evenings and weekends, maintaining a clean dock and following safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure required or ability to obtain before operating equipment.
• 3+ years of dock/warehouse experience required.
• Clear English communication abilities, written and verbal.
• Ability to recognize numbers, labels, barcodes and freight markings accurately.
• Willingness to learn basic computer systems and handheld scanners.
• Ability to safely operate MHE and related equipment.
• Regular and predictable attendance required.
• Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment with exposure to temperature extremes.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using forklifts and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors, trailers, and warehouse areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight to ensure accuracy and documentation integrity.
• Identify damaged freight and report safety or equipment concerns.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock area and use PPE as required.
• Learn operating procedures and safety protocols under supervision.
• Support dock productivity and workflow efficiency.
• Work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• Handle oversized or high-value freight safely.
