Job summary

U.S. Xpress is seeking a Fleet Tech 1 to perform basic preventative maintenance and repairs on tractors and trailers in the Springfield, OH area. The role expects a high level of mechanical competency and the ability to work within time-sensitive schedules on site.

Responsibilities include inspecting and replacing brakes, tires, fluids, and other essential systems. A high school diploma and a diesel technology background are required or preferred, with prior trucking industry experience

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Technical Diploma from a Diesel Technology Program preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of mechanical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic preventative maintenance and repairs on tractors and trailers.
• Perform basic and minor repairs and inspections on brakes, tires, wiring etc.
• Check vehicle fluids (transmission, oil, wiper, antifreeze).
• Change vehicle tires.
• Grease mechanical parts.
• Maintain a high productivity level and complete most jobs within or close to SRT times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
