Job summary

U.S. Xpress is seeking a Fleet Technician 1 at the SHIPPENSBURG USX TERMINAL to perform basic preventative maintenance and repairs on tractors and trailers. The schedule is Sunday–Wednesday, 6:00 am–4:30 pm, with no remote option.

A High School Diploma or equivalent is required; a Diesel Technology Diploma is preferred. At least 1 year of mechanical experience is desirable; DOT and brake certifications are required to perform PMs and brake work.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical Diploma from Diesel Technology Program preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of mechanical experience preferred.
• A Technical Diploma may substitute for 1 year of the required experience.
• Experience in the transportation industry preferred.
• Computer experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic preventative maintenance and repairs on tractors and trailers.
• Perform basic and routine preventative maintenance on tractors and trailers as outlined in USX PM guidelines.
• Perform basic or minor repairs and inspections on brakes, tires, wiring etc.
• Check vehicle fluids (e.g. transmission, oil, windshield wiper, antifreeze, etc.).
• Change vehicle tires.
• Grease mechanical parts.
• Maintain a high productivity level and complete most jobs within or close to SRT times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
