Job summary

Carson City Public Works Department is seeking a part-time Custodian to perform facility cleaning and maintenance. Swing shift hours are approximately 4:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., with 14–20 hours per week and not to exceed 1,039 hours per fiscal year.

Work involves cleaning, setting up rooms for meetings, operating cleaning equipment, and providing customer service to the public. Requires high school diploma or GED; cleaning or hospitality experience is helpful.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Professional cleaning experience is helpful.
• Hospitality industry experience is helpful.
• Knowledge of safe work practices and regulations.
• Ability to understand and apply basic math ratios.
• Ability to read and communicate in basic English.

Responsibilities

• Move furniture and A/V equipment to set up rooms for meetings and events.
• Clean and sanitize floors, restrooms, auditoriums, windows and carpets.
• Operate vacuums, floor machines, buffers and carpet extractors.
• Remove litter and manage waste and supplies.
• Provide customer service and interact with the public and staff.
• May supervise and secure the facility when needed.
