Job summary

The Carson City Public Works Department is seeking a part-time custodian to perform a range of facility cleaning and maintenance duties. The position may require swing shift hours from 4:30 p.m.

to 1:00 a.m., with an expected 14–20 hours per week and not to exceed 1,039 hours per fiscal year. Under general supervision, the custodian will clean and sanitize floors, restrooms, and facilities, operate cleaning equipment, and assist with room setups and security.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to a High School education or GED.
• Professional cleaning experience is helpful.
• Hospitality industry experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Moves and arranges furniture and A/V equipment to set up rooms for meetings and special functions.
• Cleaning and sanitizing of hard floors, under bleachers, facility restrooms, auditorium floors, seats, windows, fixtures, mirrors and carpets. Empties trash and stocks supplies, etc.
• Operation of cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor machines, buffers and carpet extractors.
• Removes litter and debris from facility walkways and grounds.
• Supervision and securing of facility.
• Uses standard office equipment, drives City vehicles to work sites, transports materials and assists other staff as required.
• Provides customer service.
• Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with contractors, public and City staff.
