Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in healthcare, medical office or hospital setting, particularly in-patient registration, scheduling, or insurance verification.
• Proficiency in medical terminology.
• Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a high‑pressure, fast‑paced environment.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience with insurance verification (Medicare, Medicaid, HMOs).
• Experience using the EAGLE system or similar Electronic Health Records platform.
• Or, a satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Responsibilities

• Conducts quick and full registrations for ED services and ambulatory care, applying wristbands as needed.
• Registers patients for ambulatory surgery, endoscopy procedures and L&D.
• Searches for patient files to avoid duplicate medical records.
• Interviews patients to collect demographic and insurance data.
• Obtains signatures on hospital forms and explains notices (privacy, consent).
• Reviews and updates registration data; maintains copies of insurance/ID cards.
• Answers and routes incoming ED calls; verifies insurance coverage and benefits.
• Schedules follow-up outpatient appointments in Acuity or Altera Health bridge.
• Assists patients and staff with inquiries and documentation.
• Maintains knowledge of policies and HIPAA compliance.
