Qualifikationen

• 1–2 years of experience in a healthcare, medical office or hospital setting, particularly in-patient registration, scheduling, or insurance verification.
• Proficiency in medical terminology.
• Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience with insurance verification (Medicare, Medicaid, HMOs).
• Experience using the EAGLE system or similar Electronic Health Records platform.

Aufgaben

• Conducts quick registrations and full registrations of patients for ED services and applies wristbands.
• Searches for patient files to avoid duplicates.
• Interviews patients to collect accurate demographic and insurance data.
• Explains and obtains signatures on hospital forms including consent, privacy notice and patient agreement.
• Facilitates transportation for discharged ED patients; updates demographic and financial data.
• Answers, triages and routes incoming ED phone calls.
• Verifies coverage and checks insurance eligibility (Medicare, Medicaid, BCBS, etc.).
• Schedules follow-up outpatient appointments in Acuity or Altera Health bridge.
• Assists patients and staff with inquiries; prepares medical charts with documentation.
• Maintains HIPAA compliance and department policies.
• Admitting duties: death certificates, OCME/funeral home pickups, bed transfers, chart conversions, and bed assignments.
