Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking an Emergency Department Clerical/Admitting Clerk to support the ED with chart management, registration and order entry. You will handle transcription, telephone duties and patient flow while maintaining accuracy in documentation.

The role requires strong computer skills, medical terminology knowledge, legible handwriting, and the ability to multi-task in a high-stress setting. Evening shifts are required with team collaboration and a union environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of a medical terminology course.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain an organized environment.
• Demonstrated computer ability with Meditech order entry and charge screens.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Legible handwriting required.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance of E.D. medical records, chart assembly and discharge analysis.
• Unit receptionist duties including greeting visitors and booking procedures.
• Transcription of physician orders and medication entries.
• Maintain inventory of department supplies and equipment.
• Coordinate secure transport and ambulance/hospital transfers as needed.
• Answer multiple telephones promptly and professionally.
• Document workflow and maintain logs and databases.
