Job summary

CHESCO Services in Columbia, SC is seeking a part-time DSP for the 2nd shift (with every other weekend). You will provide direct care and training to residents in a community setting, implement training goals and collect data, and counsel residents as needed.

Responsibilities include maintaining accountability for residents, following care plans, completing daily logs and medication administration, and coordinating with the interdisciplinary team to support hygiene, meals, and activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification in First Aid, CPR, and CPI.
• Annual TB testing required.
• Valid driver’s license from state of residence and ability to operate a 15-passenger or smaller vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Maintains accountability for all consumers within the assigned setting; understands consumer actions during the time frame.
• Implements goals and behavior management; assists with personal hygiene, oral hygiene, social adjustment, leisure and activities.
• Reports and documents inappropriate or maladaptive behaviors; follows unit and individual behavior management plans.
• Performs DSP paperwork: daily logs, schedules, inventory, progress notes and related forms; prepares monthly sheets and activity inventories.
• Maintains unit cleanliness; supervises chores, cooking and laundry as scheduled.
• Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and provides evaluation support.
• Administers medications per CHESCO Services guidelines.
• Transports consumers as needed; conducts monthly fire drills and disaster drills as required.
• Gathers groceries, supplies, clothing, food and inventory; supports shift duties and coverage as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
