Job summary

FedEx Freight in New Jersey is seeking a Dock/Freight Handler to move freight across the dock area to and from trailers, supporting efficient loading and unloading.

You will operate forklift or pallet jack, verify freight paperwork, secure loads, assist customers, and complete required reports. Starting pay is $22.77/hour, with a range to $26.64/hour, and full-time benefits after eligibility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Warehousing/freight handling or forklift experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight up to 100 lb; open trailer doors.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat; work independently or in a team.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform freight handling using motorized and manual equipment.
• Verify documentation matches freight details (type, weight, hazmat).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
