Job summary

FedEx Freight in New Jersey seeks a dock worker to transport freight across the dock area, load and unload trailers, and secure cargo using pallets and straps. You will operate forklift equipment and hand trucks, verify freight documentation, and assist customers with freight paperwork.

The role requires basic math, strong teamwork and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced dock environment. Hours vary with operation needs and safety guidelines apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Operate and use equipment such as forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Verify documentation matches freight description and weight.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
