FedEx Freight, Inc in New York area seeks a Freight Handler to move freight across the dock between trailers, using forklift, pallet jack and manual equipment. Responsibilities include verifying freight documents, securing loads, assisting customers, and performing hostling duties when required; working in a dock environment with varying conditions and hours.

Starting pay is $21.16 per hour with a range up to $24.75.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing or freight handling experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight and dock plates; up to 100 pounds and 75 pounds lift force multiple times daily.

Responsibilities

• Perform freight handling using motorized and manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Verify freight documentation matches description (type, weight, hazmat).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
