Job summary

Monarch Healthcare in North Carolina provides developmental supports to individuals with mental health diagnoses, IDD, or substance use disorders. The Developmental Specialist role focuses on helping people achieve personal goals and live more independently.

The position involves assessing client aspirations, facilitating community participation, ensuring safety, documentation, and collaboration with teams. Sleepover shifts may occur, with a strong emphasis on person-centered care and advocacy.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.

Responsibilities

• Assess each person for hopes, dreams, and desires and provide supports to achieve them.
• Help people develop relationships with their community and natural supports.
• Assist people in participating fully in the community according to their interests.
• Protect and promote the rights of people receiving services; support advocacy and use personal advocates.
• Provide emotional, physical, and medical support as needed for each person.
• Foster person-centered, positive relationships that promote self-determination.
• Input and recommend into assessment and planning processes; help develop individual plans.
• Complete required documentation, including goals, outcomes, incident reports, and timesheets.
• Maintain daily progress notes and communication logs for appointments and goals.
• Assist with daily home operations: housekeeping, meals, laundry, shopping, and maintenance.
• Provide transportation to clients as required.
• Assist with emergency procedures and safety; conduct drills and inspections.
• Mentor and train new or current staff as needed.
• Sleepovers at residential settings may be required.
• Attend meetings and trainings; maintain required certifications.
• Follow all policies, procedures, and laws related to programs served.
• Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.
