Job summary

Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) is seeking a dedicated Caretaker to support the Operations Services Department. You will oversee daily building operations, cleanliness, maintenance and security while supervising assigned staff, under the Building Management Supervisor.

This role requires physical ability, flexibility to work day, evening, and night shifts, and a commitment to safe, attractive learning environments for students and staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years HRCE custodial experience or three years alternate janitorial experience or a combination of both for three years.
• Ability to lift 50lbs to perform a full range of cleaning and janitorial duties.
• Experience working in Microsoft Office (Outlook).
• Experience completing routine and preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and supervise the daily operations of the Operations Services Department for the designated facility.
• Ensure the overall cleanliness, maintenance and security of the school facility.
• Supervise assigned staff and report to the Building Management Supervisor.
• Duties performed in a professional, proactive and quality manner.
