Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network seeks a Mental Health Crisis Intervention Specialist to provide comprehensive intake assessments for patients with mental health concerns in the Emergency Department or Walk-In Center and to coordinate referrals to appropriate levels of care.

You will collaborate with physicians, advanced practitioners, and behavioral health staff to facilitate referral decisions, ensure patient flow, and uphold patient rights throughout the admission process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field with 2–6 years of experience.
• Master’s degree in a human services field preferred, with 1–3 years of direct clinical mental health/crisis intervention experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments for mental health needs in the Emergency Department or Walk-In Center and refer to the appropriate level of care.
• Interact with care teams (physicians, advanced practitioners, BH staff) to facilitate referrals and placement.
• Demonstrates understanding of Mental Health regulations, patient rights, voluntary/involuntary status, and supports de-escalation and safe restraint when necessary.
