Job summary

St. Luke’s University Health Network seeks a Mental Health Crisis Intervention Specialist to provide comprehensive crisis assessment and coordinate admission/referral for psychiatric patients in the Emergency Department or Walk-In Center.

You will support access to Behavioral Health Services across the network and serve as a liaison with multiple hospital teams. The role requires licensing or credentialing in mental health, strong de-escalation skills, and familiarity with admission processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a human services field with 2–6 years of equivalent experience or
• Master’s degree in a human services field with 1–3 years of equivalent experience. Master’s preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments for mental health needs in ED or Walk-In Center and refer to appropriate care level.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practitioners and BH staff for referrals and placement.
• Coordinate with other BH team members to manage patient flow and placement.
• Serve as liaison for hospital and network sites regarding BH patients.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Mental Health regulations, patient rights, and admission status.
• Function as a team member handling agitation/violent behavior with de-escalation and restraints.
