Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network in the Bethlehem area seeks a crisis intervention specialist to provide comprehensive assessments and coordinate admission/referral for psychiatric cases in the Emergency Department and Walk-In Center, supporting access to Behavioral Health Services.

You will collaborate with physicians, nurses and BH staff to ensure ethical, rights-respecting care, manage pre-certifications, monitor the therapeutic environment, and assist with patient flow across network

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a human services field plus 2–6 years of relevant experience.
• Master’s degree in a human services field preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of direct clinical mental health/crisis intervention experience required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments for patients with mental health needs in the Emergency Department and Walk-In Center and make referral recommendations.
• Coordinate with care teams to facilitate referral decisions and patient placement across BH services.
• Serve as a liaison for other hospital/network sites and support utilization management processes.
• Demonstrate knowledge of mental health regulations relating to patient rights and admission status.
• Demonstrate de-escalation skills and manage agitated/violent patients with appropriate interventions.
