Job summary

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health is seeking a Custodian for the Facilities Management division. The role performs custodial duties to ensure clean, orderly court facilities, including offices, bathrooms, and common spaces, with occasional travel between regional courts.

Hours are Monday–Friday, 3:00 pm–11:00 pm, with potential shift differential for approved hours. This is a full-time, union-position role governed by the MOA with OPEIU Local 6 and involves occasional outside-hours

Qualifications

• No degree requirement.
• Three (3) years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and supplies.
• Knowledge of floor care and cleaning tools.
• Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Dusts and wet mops floors and stairs; operates vacuum; places wet floor signs.
• Strips and applies wax; operates power buffer for floor polishing.
• Cleans furniture, windows, doors, walls; empties wastebaskets and cleans restrooms.
• Mows lawns, shovels snow; assists with minor maintenance as needed.
• Provides coverage for other custodians and supports department operations.
