The Nursing Assistant (NA) at Good Samaritan serves as a caregiver to residents in the long-term care setting, delivering resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role includes recording vital signs, assisting with transfers, and supporting meals to enhance resident well-being.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and CNA certification; ongoing education and state registry requirements apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum age of 16.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement.
• Satisfactorily completes yearly department specific competency testing and maintains continuing education credits (12 hours annually).
• State UAP Registry (where applicable) and Sanford driving policy may apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance.
• Record vital signs and communicate changes to the charge nurse/RN.
• Assist with transfers, repositioning, and mobility using proper techniques.
• Assist with meals, hydration, and dining to create a positive dining experience.
• Provide housekeeping, laundry, and participation support for wellness programs.
